Round #4 of the Trapani Pit Bike Race!
With four races in the books and one final round to go, who would ever think that we would get up to 163 entries and have such a points battle going on. In the youth 50cc stock plus, Rowland Papp closes the gap by getting the most points with the overall win. While Cody Kessler had his troubles in the first moto but wins the final moto, Christopher Duymich takes 3rd overall and ties Kessler with 13 points. Nice ride by Papp now only two points out of first place with 11 points. The adult 50cc Stock had Jeff Roma, Joel Dengler and Barry Goodwin running one two three in both motos. Points leader Ben Firestone had bike problems in the fist moto scoring no point for the day and John Burlew was only good for a 4th overall. This puts Firestone, Burlew and Roma in a three way tie with Joel Dengler only one point behind from making it a four way tie. So who will take the title in this class on September 30th! Rowland Papp gains on Kessler as well in the youth 50cc mod with a 2nd overall while Bryan Wallace gets his second in a row perfect score win on his Xtreme. Nice riding by Wallace, he may have this one locked up. The Premiere class was like a national with qualifiers, extremely fast riders and a phenomenal main event. Nils Tribus lead every lap in the first qualifier with a great ride by Jeff Roma bringing his Xtreme to a second place after going down in the second turn. Nice to see Firestone jumping up to the premiere class finishing in 6th. The second qualifier had new comer Scott Sayers from MD finishing 3rd and Dan Wilson who was on fire that night trying to run down point leader and moto winner Tony Roth. The famous Jay Kusmider (Raceways water guy) took his Xtreme to 5th place. In the main event seven riders would be in the same straightaway most of the race. Sayers pulls the start with Nils on his rear fender, Roth and Roma get pushed out wide but still come out 4th and 5th. The second lap Roma goes to 2nd Roth to 4th then Nils gets back by Roma while Roth and Wilson are bar to bar for 4th. The next lap Nils and Roth are all over Sayers for the lead followed by Wilson and Gaughan while Roma is of the pace with problems. The checkered comes out for a hard charging Roth to take the win followed by Nils, Sayers, Wilson, Gaughan and Roma. It looks like Frank Lettieri wins another overall in the youth 70-150cc class and has put him self in a commanding points lead. Kessler with another troubled first moto comes back roaring in the second moto to take the win but only earning him a fifth overall. 2nd overall goes to the Iron man of the day Rowland Papp, Riding in three classes and the youth dash claming four podium finishes. Joel Dengler sweeps the adult 70-150 class on a barrowed bike while Tony Lee, Danny Lee, Nils Tribus and Ty Wallace mixed their moto scores making for some great racing. The Dash winners go to Bryan Wallace, Tony Roth, Cody Kessler and Joel Dengler. September 30th maybe the last race at Raceway Park but it will not be the last pit bike race of the year. Trapani's will join Meteor Motorcycle Club and host a pit bike race on Saturday October 15th at Sahara Sand Grand Prix Hare scrambles. This in an AMA National event held October 15th & 16th along with Vintage, ATV, Youth and Pit Bike racing through out the weekend.
